Stroll through the Earth-Kind® Demonstration Gardens as docents will be available to discuss planting and upkeep of the gardens. The Earth-Kind® approach uses native and adapted plants and water-efficient design and maintenance. The series of gardens have plants for different needs, including drought tolerance, color, full sun, and shade. There are ornamental trees, flowering shrubs, perennial flowers, Earth-Kind® roses, vines, and groundcovers. The gardens are also home to many species of beneficial insects. As many as 40 certified Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions and provide advice.

Other activities focus on vermicomposting and irrigation. A supply of the popular Travis County Master Gardener publications Garden Guide for Austin and Vicinity, and From Drought to Deluge: The Resilient Central Texas Garden will also be available for purchase.

Daphne Richards, County Extension Agent – Horticulture, at Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, said, “We’ve got a range of hands-on informational exhibits featuring our Master Gardener experts. I will be there and am excited to give you a tour of the Earth-Kind® Gardens at the Extension Service office located in southeast Austin.”
