Master Gardeners Demonstrate Composting at EXACO Earth Day Open House

Join the Travis County Master Gardeners at the EXACO Earth Day celebration and learn all about composting and greenhouses. You can also get answers on  tree trimming, vegetable gardening, landscaping small spaces, butterfly gardening, the best plants for the Austin area, fertilizers, and pest management.

In addition to sharing their experience and training, several publications are on hand for you to review or take with you. You’ll find the Native and Adapted Landscape Plants Guide along with other timely Grow Green FAQ sheets. Grow Green is a joint program with the City of Austin Watershed Department and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension. You can also pick up a copy of the Vegetable Garden Planting Guide and recommended Vegetable Varieties for Central Texas. Several more resources are available online. Please visit Our Favorite Gardening Resources for Austin and Travis County.

EXACO greenhouse donated to AgriLife Extension

EXACO Trading Company donated this educational Greenhouse to AgriLife Extension Spring 2023.

EXACO is celebrating Earth Day and the grand opening of their new headquarters located at 16001 Impact Way, Pflugerville, TX 78660 from 10 am to 3 pm. Their green offices feature 97kW of solar energy and a 59,000-gallon water cistern.  You’ll also be able to view fully assembled models of a wide array of greenhouses and other environmentally friendly products. EXACO is a major importer of European hobby greenhouses and recently donated a German-made Riga 6 greenhouse to AgriLife Extension. The ribbon cutting was at our recent Earth-Kind Gardening Field Day.

What is a Plant Clinic?

The Master Gardener Plant Clinic is a traveling help desk with Travis County Master Gardeners available to answer questions on various horticultural issues. At the EXACO Earth Day event, the focus will be on compost.

Who are Master Gardeners?

Master Gardeners are volunteers for the Travis County AgriLife Extension service. In order to become a Master Gardener, each individual receives extensive horticultural training. Master Gardeners use their training and subsequent commitment for continuing education to help Austin area residents with their gardening questions.
