Lawn for All Seasons begins 2022 Program

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension-Travis County kicks off the 2022 educational series with A Lawn for All Seasons – Best Management Practices for a Healthy Happy Lawn. April 20th, 10 am to noon. Dean Minchillo, Extension Program Specialist with the Urban Water Team will provide tips on keeping a lawn healthy during drought or watering restrictions. The program will be presented utilizing a webinar format and interested parties are encouraged to register now.

Dean Minchillo will talk about how various species handle drought stress. He’ll list the best management practices for fertilization, maintenance, irrigation, and mowing heights. In short, you’ll get practical advice to create or maintain a lawn of all seasons.

More topics in the Waterwise Strategies for Austin Gardens  2022 educational series are also on the schedule. In addition to lawns, other sessions focus on Irrigation Controllers, Austin Water Conservation, and Permaculture Design With Water in Mind. All programs will be presented by experts from Texas A&M University, Travis County Master Gardeners, and Austin Water.

Due to technological constraints, the webinars have a limit of 100 attendees. However, an unlimited number of people can register to view the recorded webinars. Those who register but are not among the first 100 attendees or who miss the webinar will be able to view it afterward.

You can submit questions during the webinar and get answers live as time allows. Afterward, questions that don’t make it to the webinar will receive emailed answers. Viewers of the recorded sessions can send their questions to the Travis County Master Gardener help desk at travismg@ag.tamu.edu.

About Dean Minchillo

Photo of Dean MinchilloDean Minchillo is a water conservation professional who has been at the forefront of conservation efforts in Texas for nearly two decades. During his career, Dean has influenced statewide rulemaking and lead education and promotion of statewide irrigation rules to increase outdoor water use efficiency and reduce water waste. Mr. Minchillo has led, assisted, and supported programs designed to provide industry professionals tools necessary to increase sustainability efforts to natural resource-intensive industries. Dean is part of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Urban Water Team as an Extension Program Specialist.
